Athlete safety is our top priority at USA Triathlon. We provide the tools to ensure our youth athletes and their parents feel safe and secure in their training environments. Athletes play a vital role in the prevention of misconduct and abuse in sport. The U.S. Center for SafeSport offers two optional courses for athletes. For youth athletes ages 13 and up, the 15-minute SafeSport for Youth Athletes course educates on bullying and hazing prevention, tips for positive online interactions, and how to report abuse and misconduct.
For child athletes ages 5-12, the 15-minute SafeSport for Kids course explores the difference between discipline and abuse, encourages athletes to reach out to a trusted adult when something is not right, and focuses on ways to have a healthy sport environment centered on fun and safety. To access the course, log in to your SafeSport account that you used if you previously took a SafeSport course. To sign up for a free SafeSport account, click here. Education around anti-doping ensures that sport stays clean and healthy.
The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency provides a 2024 Pocket Guide to help athletes understand and comply with anti-doping rules and regulations. Lastly, the Courage First Athlete Helpline is a resource to assist and support athletes, parents, coaches, and sports communities who are concerned about 1emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. Athlete-centered counselors offer confidential support and resources through calls, texts, and online chat. Thank you for your commitment to keeping sport safe.
