What to do in Milwaukee During 2025 USA Triathlon Sprint and Olympic Distance National Championships
by USA Triathlon
USA Triathlon and Visit Milwaukee are excited to welcome athletes to the 2025 USA Triathlon Sprint and Olympic National Championships, Aug. 8-10, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin! The good times flow in Milwaukee, which serves up lakeside views, winding trails, plates piled high with flavor and Midwest charm!
What makes Milwaukee a top destination?
- Picture-Perfect Course – Milwaukee offers a race experience like no other. Start with an open-water swim in the calm, protected waters of Lake Michigan. Then, enjoy a scenic bike ride across the iconic Hoan Bridge, followed by a run along Milwaukee’s lakefront.
- Built for Big Crowds – Veterans Park and Discovery World provide an ideal setting for Nationals, with plenty of space for the Expo, finish line chute, athlete recovery zones, and more.
Stretch, Sweat, or Stroll
Milwaukee boasts hundreds of lakeside trails and parks to stretch your legs, catch the sunset, or warm up your body for race day. Check out these parks and trails:
- South Shore Lakefront Trail – Discover 8.2 miles (point-to-point) of trail, located against the shore of Lake Michigan. A moderately challenging trail, it’s great for walking, running, or biking!
- Beerline Trail - The Beerline Trail, once used by freight trains to deliver grain and hops to Milwaukee’s breweries, offers runners and walkers a scenic and urban route with history, water views, and a concrete surface, perfect for light training or active recovery.
- Milwaukee Riverwalk - Located downtown, the Milwaukee Riverwalk connects three unique river districts — the Historic Third Ward, Downtown, and Beerline B — within three miles. This scenic trail doubles as an openair art gallery, featuring striking public installations that not only guide visitors, but share stories of Milwaukee’s past.
Bites Between Races
Whether you’re trying to find your comfort food or try something new, Milwaukee has thousands of food options for every athlete and family!
- Cafe Hollander – Belgian beers and comfort food, located near Lake Park
- Fixture Pizza Pub – Bistro with a bar, featuring signature pizzas, Italian subs and pastas — the perfect carb load to get ready for race day
- Valentine Coffee Roasters Third Ward – Located just under a mile from Discovery World, fuel up your morning with specialty coffee and breakfast sandwiches
- Third Coast Provisions – Seafood-inspired dishes that blend coastal flavors with the Midwest, in a relaxed and chic atmosphere
