Meet USA Triathlon Foundation Ambassador Evan Ageloff
by Stephen Meyers
For Long Beach, California, triathlete Evan Ageloff, the sport isn’t just about finish lines. It’s about the people who help you get there.
After a tough crash at the 2024 USA Triathlon Sprint & Olympic Nationals in Atlantic City left him with a separated clavicle, Ageloff experienced the kind of compassion and support that defines the heart of the multisport community. That moment sparked something bigger: a desire to give back and help strengthen the culture of empathy, resilience, and connection within USA Triathlon.
Today, Ageloff is a proud member of the USA Triathlon Foundation Ambassador Team, a nationwide group of athletes committed to growing the sport through philanthropy and community engagement. Ambassadors race with purpose, raise funds to support the USA Triathlon Foundation’s transformative programs, and champion the Foundation’s mission to expand access to swim, bike, and run for athletes of all ages and backgrounds.
If you’re looking for a community that lifts each other up, makes an impact, and celebrates the joy of multisport, the Foundation Ambassador Team is where you belong. And with applications now open for the 2026 Ambassador Team, there’s never been a better time to join leaders like Ageloff who are using their passion to power meaningful change.

What first inspired you to join the USA Triathlon Foundation Ambassador Team?
My experience at the 2024 Nationals in Atlantic City inspired me. Despite a gnarly bike crash that left me with a separated clavicle, I finished the Olympic-distance course. What stayed with me more than the finish line, though, was the compassion (former USA Triathlon Board Chair) Joel Rosinbum and (USA Triathlon CEO) Victoria Brumfield showed afterward. Their kindness and follow-up reflected a culture I want to help nurture within USA Triathlon — one grounded in empathy, resilience, and community.
You’ve raised $13,680 this year. What does achieving that milestone feel like?
It’s a testament to what teamwork and shared purpose can achieve. I’m grateful to everyone who has supported us. For my wife Sandy and me, giving back fuels our passion, but helping fellow Ambassadors reach their goals is just as rewarding. Most of all, we’re still hungry. This milestone isn’t an endpoint; it’s a reminder of how much more we can do together.
How has Sandy shaped your triathlon or fundraising journey?
In everything we do, we’re a team. I often say I have the easy job — racing — while Sandy has the hard one: waking up early, making sure nothing’s forgotten, reminding me to hydrate, and running our social media with contagious energy.
Her creativity and positivity have been the driving force behind our fundraising success. There’s no question — we wouldn’t have achieved what we have without her.
How do your race experiences shape your fundraising and community passion?
I’ll never forget my first race 10 years ago. I was nervous and out of my element. Two athletes noticed, helped me set up, and showed genuine empathy. Then one of them patted his stomach and said, “Hey man, this is the body of a finisher.”
That one sentence flipped my mindset and set the tone for how I approach every race — with positivity and inclusion.
Today, Sandy and I pass it forward by welcoming new athletes and running beside them. Repaying early kindness with ongoing support is our way of building confidence and community.
What kind of impact do you hope to make through your fundraising?
At this stage of my life, impact means helping others succeed, whether it’s the Foundation team, fellow Ambassadors, or the athletes we meet along the way.
Fundraising is only part of the story. Sharing experience, encouraging others, and creating opportunities define our legacy. We’re excited for what’s next—the journey and impact are only beginning.
