by USA Triathlon
TEMPE, Ariz. — The University of Arizona, Lenoir-Rhyne University and North Central College captured team titles on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the 2025 Women’s Collegiate Triathlon National Championships in Tempe, Arizona, as the country’s top NCAA women’s triathletes capped the fall season with fast racing and fierce competition.
Held at Tempe Town Lake, the national championship featured more than 150 varsity athletes from across the country competing in NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III races. Athletes covered a draft-legal, sprint-distance course consisting of a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike, and 5-kilometer run.
The University of Arizona successfully defended its 2024 national title, winning its second championship in program history with a dominant team performance that placed five Wildcats in the top 10.
Arizona’s Kelly Wetteland claimed the individual national title, improving on her runner-up finish from a year ago. She won with a time of 1 hour, 2 minutes, 9 seconds — 10 seconds ahead of teammate Margareta Vrablova who placed.
Fellow Wildcats Ellison Wolfe (7th), Mia Wentzy (8th) and Ruth Pardy (10th) rounded out Arizona's impressive showing.
Arizona State University earned the team silver medal behind top-10 finishes from Sidney Clement (5th), Alexandra Campbell (6th), and Naomi Ruff (9th). Texas Christian University placed third, led by Amando Moro, who finished 13th overall.
In Division II, Lenoir-Rhyne University reclaimed the national championship crown with a tight victory over defending champion Wingate University. The Bears totaled 762 points to earn their second team title in three years, following a runner-up finish in 2024.
Lenoir-Rhyne’s Zoila Sicilia raced to the individual national title, followed closely by teammate Sabrina Fleig in second. Wingate freshman Shelby Lajeunesse placed third to lead the Bulldogs to a strong runner-up finish, while Drury University rounded out the Division II podium in third place.
North Central College continued its dominance in Division III, winning a fourth consecutive team title and sixth overall in program history. Bethany Smeed and Keely Mick led the charge for the Cardinals, finishing first and second individually.
Trine University’s Grace Huisman placed third, guiding her team to a second-place finish in the team standings, while Central College finished third.
