USA Triathlon Announces 2024 National Championships Calendar

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — USA Triathlon today unveiled the dates and locations for its 2024 National Championships, a robust calendar of triathlon and multisport events across the United States.

USA Triathlon has partnered with local USA Triathlon Race Directors across the United States to produce the 2024 National Championships, which offer athletes the opportunity to compete for U.S. national titles against the top multisport athletes in the country and qualify to represent Team USA at 2025 World Triathlon Age Group World Championships. Most of the 2024 USA Triathlon National Championships do not require qualification.

The slate of newly announced events join the following 2024 USA Triathlon National Championships, which opened registration, powered by TicketSocket, earlier this year: USA Triathlon Multisport National Championships Festival (June 5-9, Omaha, Neb.) and USA Triathlon Olympic- and Sprint-Distance National Championships (Sept. 13-15, Atlantic City, N.J.).

Kicking off the USA Triathlon National Championships 2024 calendar is the Winter Triathlon National Championships Feb. 23-25 in Breckenridge, Colo. Produced by organizers of Breck Epic, the new run-bike-cross-country ski race — named the Breckebeiner — embraces the Breckenridge community’s silent sport roots. The event will be held at Breckenridge’s Gold Run Nordic Center and includes winter triathlon and winter duathlon. Top age-group finishers at Winter Nationals will earn the opportunity to represent USA Triathlon’s amateur Team USA at the 2025 World Triathlon Winter World Championships. Collegiate Club National Championships, annually one of the most high-energy triathlons in the country, heads to picturesque Mission Viejo, California, on April 13-14 and will be produced by Empower Multisport. The event includes Olympic-distance, sprint-distance draft-legal and Mixed Relay races as more than 100 collegiate club teams from across the country compete for national titles. The 2024 USA Triathlon Multisport National Championships Festival heads to Omaha, Nebraska. Scheduled for June 5-9, 2024, Multisport National Championships Festival encompasses the following National Championship events, creating a multi-day festival and celebration of multisport events:

The event also features an open water swim competition, the Super Sprint Individual Medley and a youth race. Multisport National Championships Festival also includes the 2024 Club National Championships. USA Triathlon Clubs earn awards based on athlete performance, participation numbers, club spirit and more. No qualification is required for all events at Multisport National Championships Festival. For the third consecutive year and fourth time overall, Ultra-Distance National Championships will be held at the Michigan Titanium in Grand Rapids, Michigan, organized by Tris4Health, which produces several triathlons across Michigan. The 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike, 26.2-mile run race is scheduled for Aug. 11. Ultra-Distance National Championships has also been organized by Tris4Health in 2019, 2022 and 2023. Cross National Championships heads to the mountains of Ogden, Utah, at the TriUtah Ogden Off-Road Triathlon. Organized by TriUtah, Cross National Championships — formerly called Off-Road Triathlon National Championships — will feature the world-class mountain biking surrounding Ogden at renowned Snowbasin Ski Resort. Athletes at Cross National Championships can qualify to compete for Team USA at the 2025 World Triathlon Cross World Championships. The September 2024 date is to be determined. USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships heads to Atlantic City, N.J., bringing together the country’s best short-course amateur adult triathletes who will race for age group national titles. As USA Triathlon’s longest-running annual event, USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships typically attracts more than 6,000 athletes. USA Triathlon has partnered with event production company DelMoSports to support production of the event. DelMoSports’ 2024 CRDA Atlantic City Triathlon on Aug. 3, 2024 will be designated as the Official Training Race of USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships.

The marquee race events in Atlantic City will take place on Sept. 14-15. On Saturday, Sept. 14, athletes will race in the qualification-based Olympic-Distance National Championships, which features a 1,500m swim, 40k bike and 10k run. The action continues Sunday, Sept. 15 with the qualification-based Sprint National Championships, held on a 750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run course. USA Triathlon Olympic and Sprint-Distance National Championships also includes the Clydesdale & Athena National Championships. The third annual Gravel National Championships heads to Middleville, Michigan, on Sept. 22 at The Dirty Mitten, one of the original two gravel triathlons in the country. Organized by Tris4Health, Gravel National Championships at The Dirty Mitten features scenic and challenging gravel roads and trails for running. The Military and First Responders National Championships will be held Oct. 19 in Palm Springs, California at the Palm Springs Triathlon, organized by Alpha Win. The Military and First Responders National Championships will include sprint-distance and Olympic-distance events honoring men and women in the following categories: Overall Military - Active Duty; Overall Military - Retired/Veteran; Overall First Responder — Police/Law Enforcement; Overall First Responder — Fire/EMS. The sprint-distance event will also feature three categories for Paratriathlon Military and Paratriathlon First Responders: Ambulatory, Wheelchair and Visually Impaired. Wrapping the 2024 National Championships season will be the Long Course National Championships, to be held Dec. 6-8 at Daytona Beach, Florida, in conjunction with CLASH Endurance Daytona. The event will include championship races in long course triathlon, long course duathlon and long course aquabike, all at Daytona International Speedway, giving athletes the opportunity to experience racing at the one-of-a-kind venue. At several National Championships in the 2024 season, amateur athletes will race not only for national titles, but also for the chance to represent Team USA at the 2025 World Triathlon Age Group Championships for their respective disciplines.
