Queens University Wins 2026 USA Triathlon Collegiate Club National Title in Gulfport, Mississippi

GULFPORT, Miss. — Queens University of Charlotte won the overall collegiate club national title at the 2026 USA Triathlon Collegiate Club National Championships, the program's fifth consecutive national title.

Hosted by CLASH Endurance on March 27-28, USA Triathlon Collegiate Club National Championships brought together more than 1,000 athletes from more than 100 collegiate triathlon clubs from across the country for two days of high-energy racing. This was the first year for USA Triathlon Collegiate Club National Championships to be held in Coastal Mississippi, home to historic cities Gulfport and Biloxi. 

Queens University turned in a strong, well-rounded performance, winning the club national title with 285 points, while winning the Mixed Relay National Championship. 

The University of Colorado Boulder finished runner-up in the overall club standings with 376 points, the University of California-Berkeley placed third(383), while the U.S. Naval Academy (397) and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (404) rounded out the top five. The overall club score combines the men's, women's and Mixed Relay scores.

Wingate University won the men's club title, scoring 15 points, while the U.S. Military Academy at West Point won the women's club title with 84 points.

Other awards were presented on Saturday, March 28, including the annual Spirit Award for the collegiate club that shows the most school pride throughout the event and the winner of Journey to Nationals, a competition for collegiate clubs to submit short videos capturing their preparation, qualification, and travel to 2026 Collegiate Club National Championships. 

The University of California Berkeley won the Spirit Award, while St. Thomas University won the Journey to Nationals competition.

Collegiate Club Nationals was a part of the three-day CLASH Coastal Mississippi event, which included age group races on Sunday, March 29, and elite athlete racing on Friday, March 27 at the 2026 Americas Triathlon Cup Gulfport

Mixed Relay National Championships 

Queens ran away with the Mixed Relay National Championship title on Saturday, March 28 to secure the program's fifth consecutive overall club national title.

Each athlete in the Mixed Relay races a 250-meter swim, 5-kilometer bike, and 1.2k run triathlon before tagging their teammate.

The Queens quartet combined for a time of 1 hour, 11 minutes, 34 seconds — more than 1 minute ahead of the University of California Berkeley, which placed second in 1:12:54. The University of California Davis took third in 1:14:53. 

Olympic-Distance National Championships

On Saturday, March 28, the University of Colorado Boulder's Kasey Madsen won the women's Olympic Distance National Championship, completing the 1500-meter swim, 40-kilometer bike and 10k run in a time of 2 hours, 7 minutes, 45 seconds. Madsen turned in a dominant performance, winning by nearly 4 minutes over runner-up Clare Anne Dasso of Queens University who finished second in 2:11:43. 

Madsen won the race on the bike, averaging 25.16 miles per hour and then cruised to victory on the run, clocking a 38:35 10k. Madsen’s national title continues a legacy for the Buffs; Colorado’s Annie Meeder won last year’s Collegiate Club Olympic Distance national title

Emma Squires of Purdue University placed third in the women’s race, with a time of in 2:15:39.

Edoardo Leone from the University of California Los Angeles won the men’s Olympic Distance National Championship, cruising to victory in 1:49:59. 

The title is the first Collegiate Club Olympic Distance National Championship for Leone, who won the 2024 and 2025 Collegiate Club Draft-Legal National Championships. The three-time national champion averaged 28.65 miles per hour on the bike and ran a 32:41 10k to secure the win. 

Wingate University’s Isaac Lamprecht finished runner-up, with a time of 1:51:57. His teammate, Luis Steiert, placed third in 1:52:25, giving the Bulldogs two on the overall podium. 

The Wingate men showed their depth in the Olympic Distance National Championship, as the Bulldogs finished in positions two through six to secure the men’s club team title.

Collegiate Club National Championships also featured the Non-Binary Olympic Distance National Championship, with Miami University’s Kai Lewis taking the title. 

Draft-Legal National Championships

The 2026 USA Triathlon Collegiate Club National Championships kicked off on Friday, March 27 with the Draft-Legal Sprint National Championship races.

Isaac Lamprecht of Wingate University won the men’s Draft-Legal National Championship, while Duke University’s Maya Reilly won the women’s Draft-Legal National Championship. 

Lamprecht is a member of USA Triathlon’s Mallow U25 Development Team, which is funded by longtime triathletes and USA Triathlon Foundation donors Audra and Michael Mallow. The USA Triathlon program supports emerging elite athletes, primarily ages 14–25, as they gain experience at domestic and international competitions and continue progressing within the Olympic and Paralympic development pipeline. 

Reilly is also in USA Triathlon’s development pipeline, training in a group, AUXO Collective, led by two-time Olympic medalist and coach Katie Zaferes

Reilly won the women’s title with a time of 1:06:23, 7 seconds ahead of U.S. Naval Academy’s Isabel Mesa. Clare Anne Dasso of Queens placed third in 1:06:39. 

Athletes in the men’s and women’s Draft-Legal Sprint National Championship raced a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike and 5k run. 

Lamprecht won the men’s title with a comfortable margin of over a minute, cruising to victory in 58:02. Jeremy Maclean of Queens placed second in 59:20 and Scott Oshea of UC Davis placed third in 59:34.
