Top 5 Things To Do so You Can Go Faster Without Trying Harder
Listen to your body both on and off the race course and it will pay dividends in your results.
It’s that simple. Sleeping promotes both mental and physical recovery and helps your body get stronger after all of the training you are doing. Get a cool, dark environment, turn off your electronics(except your Normatec compression recovery boots, of course), and make sure you are getting enough sleep to let your body repair itself.
Habits and routine allow you to focus on what is important and not stress over things that can be done on ‘auto-pilot’. A routine leads to consistency and consistency equals results. Just like you are more productive with a set schedule at work, your body craves routine. It pervades through every part of your life from consistent sleep schedules, to timing of your meals and timing of your fuel during training. It is also mentally a lot easier to manage and you do not feel pressure to ‘fit workouts in’.
A good friend and training buddy can get you fitter, faster as well as keep you motivated during down times. Try to find a partner close to your ability level but even if that is not possible, you can still create amazing games/training activities together to make it fun. A smart athlete is a fast athlete. There is an abundance of information out there but it is sometimes difficult to sift through it. Having a mentor, coach or a team of good advisors is critical. I rely heavily on my coach, my team at Dimond Bikes to help me make the right equipment/aerodynamic choices, and the rest of my partners to help me optimize my training, equipment and recovery modalities. The most important thing is to always be open to ideas, constantly searching and find the right people to surround yourself with.
