NCAA Triathlon THE ALEXANDER
THE ALEXANDER is a prestigious honor recognizing outstanding individuals who excel not only in triathlon but also demonstrate exemplary achievements in academics and community service.
Application Criteria: Developed by USA Triathlon Foundation’s Chief Development Officer to emphasize academic achievement, athletic excellence, and exemplary character.
- Academic Achievement
- Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0
- Academic honors, awards, or distinctions.
- Relevant coursework or academic projects related to sports science, health, or community service.
- Recommendations from academic advisors or professors.
- Athletic Performance
- Competitive success in triathlon events (e.g., race results, rankings).
- Leadership roles within the triathlon team.
- Commitment to training, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
- Endurance, speed, and technical skills in swimming, cycling, and running.
- Volunteerism and Community Involvement
- Demonstrated commitment to community service related to sports, health, or education.
- Involvement in charitable events, fundraisers, or mentorship programs.
- Leadership roles in community service organizations.
- Volunteer hours dedicated to promoting health and fitness in the community.

2024 - Hailey Poe
The inaugural THE ALEXANDER was awarded to North Central College’s Hailey Poe at the 2024 Foundation Celebration of Sport in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
A 2025 graduate, Poe won four NCAA Division III individual national titles while competing for the Cardinals. She double-majored in sport management and ethical leadership, and was a four-time Scholar All-American. She served as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President, and a Leadership, Ethics, and Values Fellow, a program that develops skills to help students become leaders to make a difference in the world.
2025 - Grace Huisman
A 2026 graduate of Trine University and native of Muncie, Indiana, Huisman was a cornerstone for the Thunder over three seasons, leading the way to three-straight runners-up finishes at the Women’s Collegiate Triathlon National Championships.
Off the race course, Huisman is studying Exercise Science on a Pre-PT track with a 4.0 GPA, earning her CTCA All-American honors three times. She leads a beginner swim program at her local YMCA, volunteers at youth triathlons, and is recognized for her humility, positivity, and leadership on and off the course.
