USA Triathlon today announced that Dr. Tekemia Dorsey (Middle River, Md.) has resigned due to personal reasons from her position as a General Director of the USA Triathlon Board of Directors.

CEO of the International Association of Black Triathletes (IABT), Dorsey earned re-election as a General Director to the USA Triathlon Board of Directors in October of 2021. Her term end date was December 31, 2025.

The search for Dr. Dorsey’s replacement on the USA Triathlon Board of Directors begins immediately.

Per USA Triathlon’s Bylaws, the USA Triathlon Nominating and Governance Committee should nominate, and the USA Triathlon Board of Directors should elect, a successor Director within 60 days of the date of a Director’s resignation.

USA Triathlon is committed to creating a culture of equality and access in multisport, and the USA Triathlon Nominating and Governance Committee is seeking a new member to the USA Triathlon Board of Directors who will bring a different perspective and has experience in triathlon or club operations.

Please send all nominations to election@usatriathlon.org. Nominations are due by 11:59 p.m. MT, Sunday, June 26, 2022.

Submissions should include the following:

The name, address, contact number, e-mail address and annual membership number of the nominee
A written description of the nominee and their platform; the description shall not exceed 500 words
A photo of the nominee
The nominee’s resume
A completed Conflict of Interest disclosure form

USA Triathlon Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is composed of 12 members who are elected without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or physical disability. Per the 2022 USA Triathlon Bylaw revisions, four directors are Athlete Directors, four directors are General Directors and four directors are Independent Directors.

The Board of Directors represents the interests of the sport of triathlon in the United States by providing USA Triathlon with policy, guidance and strategic direction. Typically, meetings are held approximately three times per year with conference calls scheduled between meetings as needed.
