MIXED RELAY

In the Triathlon Mixed Relay, teams of four (in the order of woman-man-woman-man) compete, with each team member completing a 250-meter swim, 5k bike, 1k run triathlon before tagging their teammate. On Sunday, spectators and teammates lined the race’s tag zone, cheering as athletes finished their leg to tag their teammate who ran toward the shore of Lake Cunningham.

Team Rogue Tri, made up of athletes Michelle Christine, Scott Green, Kirsten Sass and Stephen Eles, crossed the tape for the national title in the Triathlon Mixed Relay. The foursome of champions combined for a time of 1 hour, 18 minutes, 3 seconds to take the win, 36 seconds ahead of runner-up Team Lost in Transition (Alexandra Bojarski-Stauffer, Elliot Feng, Lexi Bridget, Jason McCormack).

Team Rogue Tri then returned hours later — with rain falling on Lake Cunningham — to win the national title in the Duathlon Mixed Relay National Championships. In this race, each athlete on the four-person team raced a 1.2k run, 5k bike and 1k run. Rogue Tri combined for a time of 1:11:48.

Sarah Mercer won the women’s title in the Triathlon Individual Medley, in which athletes complete all four legs of the relay race on their own. She completed the event in 1:16:42. Stefano Profumo won the men’s title in 1:02:10

The event ended with Sunday afternoon’s awards ceremony, with athletes awarded their National Championship medals. In addition, athletes were honored with a commemorative belt buckle for achieving Multisport Master status by completing more than five races during the event.
